Blogging...Out of Boredom
Saturday
Met Sharon and Jane at Orchard. Went to Burger King at Wheelock Place to have a bite and also to bitch about our work. Seems that not alot of people are enjoying the work they are doing. Ordered Burger King Kids' Meal because we were not that hungry since we had lunch previously. Forgotten to tell the counter staff to take back the fantastic four toys which comes with the kids' meal. In the end, we took it out and dismantle it out of boredom and left it on the table when we left. lol.
Went to Borders to check out some books. Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince was launched and there were piles of it near the entrance. Wanted to buy but $40 for a 600 pages book was just too expensive for me even though I can't wait to read it. Compared to the previous launch of Harry Potter Fifth Book, there isn't much craze in queueing up to buy the books. Unfortunately, the 2 book covers available at Borders and Popular are ugly - especially the cartoon version book cover. I saw a nicer book cover in Amazon website which was not available in Singapore.
Sunday
Went to Bugis around 11am with my parents, sister and grandmother. Actually my purpose of going there is to submit my application form to attend the weiqi course but we went to the 'Si Ma Lu Guan Yin Miao' to pray. After that, my mother went off to buy some grocery while my father, sister and I went to check out the Weiqi Association at ICB Enterprise. Upon reaching the place, I was somehow taken aback by the 'very chinese tradition door with the very chinese tradition signboard - those you see in chinese kungfu show'. After confirming the place, we went to meet my mother and grandmother and had 'kway chap' for lunch at the hawker centre. We were lucky to find a table soon enough considering the place was so crowded.
After lunch, my parents and grandmother went back home first while me and my sister waited for my sister's friend (the one person who's also interested in weiqi)to submit our application form together. Upon arriving the place, she was also quite strucked by the door. lol. We were quite scared to enter. Nevertheless, we bucked up our courage to open the door.
I was quite awed when I saw the place. There's a tournament going on and we went in as quietly as possible. We approched the counter staff and gave her our application form. While waiting for her to record our particulars, I looked at the crowd of competitors playing weiqi. Wow, this is my first time seeing so many people so serious in playing a game. However there's one thing I notice about the competitors; There are no female competitors! I think it's expected. Very few people are actually interested in this 3000 year old game, not to say females!
Anyway, I'm attending the lesson this week. Hope everything goes well. lol.
P.S: Actually, I'm quite scared of the environment there...It gives me a creepy feeling...
