Today's update:

Moi has been reading those ghostly stories by the SPI (Singapore Paranormal Investigation) and now she needs me to accompany her to go to the toilet with her because of a flickering light on the way to the toilet. Oh, for godness sake, the lights has been flickering for non-stop even if we are not there, obviously the light need to be fixed.

P.S: Moi and Hc, must be good girls hoh if not i won't 'sayang' you sushi ok.

What a small world!

I met two friends yesterday without actually arranging a date to meet them. lol. On my way home, saw my primary school friend, weiying who just worked nearby my workplace two days ago. Such a coincidence. I can take the same bus with her back home since we are alighting at the same place.lol.

I went to the library to borrow some more books about Networking and about Apache because I've gotten bored reading 'only' Linux for the whole day. Such coincidence, I saw Siti at the 1st floor reading some magazines. She didn't notice me so I went up to the 2nd floor to borrow my books before going down to surprise her. lol.

We talked almost the usual stuff, about whether she has found a job or what job is she looking for. After that, we went to Mcdonalds to have dinner although my mother had already cooked my portion. Since I started work, I don't really have time to meet up with friends and if you do meet up, it seems like you have lots of stuff to talk about. Strange. I don't really have much to talk about when I was studying.

Anyway, I saw someone carrying a bag that I was looking for! It's a very cute bag which I don't see it anywhere when I was shopping. I've made a sketch of it for a clearer picture:

It's like those mini skirts with layers which I find very cute but can't seem to find this kind of design. If any of you came across this kind of bag while shopping at a boutique or anywhere, please do tell me about it because I've finding this bag for ages. lol

Updates.

Friday - 24/7

We had already scheduled to meet on Fri but my friend was not free at the very last minute. Surprisingly, while we were having a 2 hr long meeting, Ann called and msg me to meet her and Jane at Jurong Point after work. We hang out at KFC and started chit-chatting. Jane was going to furthur her studies at SIM but was not going to study an affiliated course. She's going to venture into Marketing. Really a 360 degree turn.

While eating my $2.95 meal, we talked alot about what we're going to do in the future. Ann took quite a stack of brochures and booklets about the courses available in SIM. I was looking through it over and over but found no course that interests me. If I'm not in Singapore, I bet I'll have alot more courses for me to choose.

It's kind of nice to sit down and talk to catch up on one another's life but still the discussion about our future seems bleak. I don't see any future ahead for us. I felt that I'm in a middle of a maze, not sure as to which direction I should go, having doubts as to what will happen if I go the wrong way.

Sat
Met Shuhui at JE and took train to Bugis. While on the train, played with her Nokia handphone which she bought for $500. Extremely expensive but it has alot of features such as bluetooth, mp3 and the camera was very sharp. We shopped at Bugis Village for her bag and other stuff. Unfortunately, the bag she wanted was sold out and went to Bugis Junction to look for another bag. We took a break at Long John Silver and talked alot. Seems that quite she's quite popular with the guys at her workplace. lol. There is one guy that she knew in her workplace at Expo who was interested in her. From what I know when my friend told me some of the incidents, that guy is desperate. Suddenly I thought of a metaphor that can help that guy to win a woman's heart:

"It's really like fishing. Before you go fishing, you bring the necessary equipment with you and the most important thing is the bait. You need the bait to help you hook up a fish. You go to the sea, sit down and bring out your fishing rod and started to fish. Now, see that fishing requires patience and if you are too impatient to wait for the fish to hook up, you end up going home with nothing but if you waited patiently for 2 to 3 hrs with a reward of a big fish, you will go home grinning with your success."

Hope you know what I mean by 'Patience'. Desperate guys don't get anything in the end. lol

I wish I can do that to both of them:

They are really a pain in the neck. Their mouth keep talking non-stop that I want to go mad. Now this is their punishment.lol

Today the boss seems to be clearing up some stuff. He gave us a set of wireless keyboard and mouse still brand new and unopened. All of us were like 'wow', who wants to keep this 'BRAND NEW' and 'WIRELESS' keyboard and mouse which costs about "$149" at Popular Bookstore.

After removing about 4 layers of plastic, we finally got to touch the texture of the cardboard then realise that it's missing something. The 'sensor' was not inside the package. Then I remembered that while removing the plastic, there's a sticker that says, "Imcomplete Package...........". lol. Someone must have bought it without noticing the sticker and didn't redeem the sensor after paying for it. In the end, boss went inside to lab to dig out a sensor for us. lol.

You may think that 'Wah Wireless Keyboard and Mouse leh, sooo good', but YOU ARE WRONG. Do you know how many batteries it needed to just make it wireless within a range of 2m? 6 BATTERIES, somemore it's 2 AAA batteries and 4 AA batteries('AAA' is smaller than 'AA' right?).

The battery consumption is alot. Assume that after using for a month and you need to change 6 batteries? If you are using it for a year, it adds up to 6 x 12 = 72 batteries. I've never even tried using more than 10 batteries in one year. lol.

Hmm, I think the four of us except meiling were deciding who's going to bring the set home. Should we just draw lots or use toothpicks to decide who gets the longest will win this 'wireless', 'brand new', 'free' keyboard and mouse! Or should I just auction it and split the money among ourselves? lol.

Frustrated by one monkey

This one monkey is very mischevious. She climbs around the office like she was playing monkey bars and destroys everything she sees(My monitor and the blinds are her victims). Recently, she was taught a trick (not sure who's the master). What was the trick? You must be thinking. This trick is the invincible weapon that can defeat the enemy in an instant and destroy a person's emotions so badly that you will fall down on your knees and crawl to her crying to beg her to stop. What is this trick? People have been taking years to learn this one trick but failed and only she can master it.

(Drums rolling!)Ladies and gentleman, boys and girls, let's welcome this little nasty monkey who will perform extraordinary tricks which will awe you onstage. Let's welcome: (drums rolling)Our little monkey from Adroit! (Yea, hands clapping)

OK. The above was just specially written for our dear Hc (see lah, i so nice to you). In what way has she done to make me write such a 'beautiful story' for her. Ahem! Hc should know better. (Next time don't bad-mouth about me anymore huh if not you'll get it!)(eyes burst with fire!)

Unexpected Visit

At about 5pm a guy came which we presume to be a customer. He talked to Hc about his purpose of visit. From far, I didn't quite understand his English because of his accent. I glanced at him and later to Hc and back to him. I then realise that he was not here for data recovery.

Hc asked me over to her desk. She was holding a piece of artwork. Now I get a clearer picture. This guy is selling his artwork. He even had a whole stack of it for us to choose. He told us that he was studying in Nangyang Poly. An Italian who studied college in UK previously. He said he was selling his pieces to cover his daily expenses. Hc asked him about the process of making the artwork. He said he drew it in paper first, scanned it and painted it digitally. The paper which he said was aluminium foil was printed using a special printer.

Hc said that she was not interested to buy but after that he persuaded her by saying 'please' in Chinese. He pointed one of his artwork saying 'fengshui'. lol. He said his Chinese friends taught him some Chinese words. (Presumbly to help him sell his artwork lol)

In the end Hc fork out $10 and Moi $5 to buy the artpiece. I was in charge of picking out an artpiece that I find beautiful. lol

I've picked a fantasy theme of a couple in a background of castle and fairies. Beautiful purple background. He said the couple was romeo and juliet.

Before he left, he even chatted with Hc saying that Singapore living standard is very high. For $400 he could only rent a one-room flat but in Italy, he could rent a cottage. lol. He even said that Singaporeans are very hard-working people that they even work on weekends whereas in Italy he could spend his whole day with his family.

When he was out of sight, we started thinking that are we cheated by him after listening to his stories. The auntie who cleans our office every week said: "you all been cheated by him, $15 for an artpiece so expensive." I don't know why I even came across the thought that he will cheat us but after contemplating for quite a while, I felt that the artpiece was not a bad work and someone who has a passion in art shouldn't have any doubts of his ability. Yes. Everyone who is an art lover shouldn't judge art as doing something for money but appreciating it and compliment that the person has done a good job. To show that we like their artwork, we buy it and it's that simple. I think this man has really taught me a valuable lesson.

P.S: Remember to watch Zheng Banqiao on Channel 8 every sat and sun! lol.

Had a meeting with boss in the morning. The more he talked, the more we realise that the knowledge that we had learned for the past 3 years in polytechnic is not enough to survive in the world of Information Technology. After he told us about his future implementations, hc and my head started to grow bigger and bigger. lol (Hope it doesn't burst,lol) Actually what he wanted was very technical and as students of Multimedia Course, we learn only the software but not the hardware. So now, it's like picking up a new skill to upgrade ourselves.

I hope I can manage the whole thing. It seems to me as a very big project but the boss said that it was a relatively easy task. lol.

MY weekends

~~~~Saturday~~~~
Went Far East to shop for a handbag and sandals. It's difficult to earn money but it's definitely easy to spend money. $50 dollars gone in an instant. Saw Pb while shopping at Far East Plaza.
~~~~Sunday~~~~~

Went to Jurong Point Crystal Jade for lunch to celebrate Father's'Day. Was deciding to go to Suntec but my father thought it was a hassle to travel so far just to have lunch. When we reached there, didn't expect the queue to be so long and we need to get a queue number! No choice, so we waited for about half an hour before we were ushered inside. The place was damm crowded and small. We were expecting to taste the best in this restaurant since the queue was so long. So we ordered la mian and some dim sum. Oh my god. The la mian was too much for us and worse there's no ingredients to go with it. In the end, we ask the waitress to help us pack 3 bowls of la main home. One of my sis who has a big appetite actually manage to finish her bowl of la mian. Bravo for her but she almost vomit out. lol

My conclusion: My family decided that the lunch is the first and last time we were going to crystal jade again. None of the food we ordered is nice(only OK standard) except for the xiao long bao. Disappointed in fact. To think that the queue was so long.... Hawker food is still the best. lol

Yea......It's Friday.......yea :: so what if it's friday!

Whenever it's Friday, I will be in a good mood and faithfully do my work and not slack. But it only happens in the past, i.e when I'm having my internship because I will be counting down the days to the end of internship. However, it's a completely different thing when you started working.

When it comes to Friday you will be thinking about the next monday and the weekends seems so short even if you are packed with activities. It's a never-ending routine. Imagine that you work and work and work until you die! It's a scary thought!

Yea...so what if it's friday! You still have to come back and work on Monday!

Went for Final Theory Practice and you know what? Took 4 booklets and I did not even manage to pass one. They log you off once the time is up. Oh my, how am I going to pass my Final Theory Test and I've already booked an evaluation next week. Haiz. So bored of reading all these theory stuff.

Thinking of signing up some courses to make my life more interesting (staying all day in the office makes one mad!) but what should I join and who are interested to join. It's more fun if I have someone to go with me to classes. Thought of some courses I'm interested:

-Japanese Language Course
-Anime Drawing Classes
-Yoga Classes
-Weiqi Classes

I think most people will not consider Anime Drawing Classes and Weiqi Classes because very few people(pointing to myself) are into such interest and I'm the exception. Lol

As for Japanese Language Courses I think at least more people will be interested but it seems that it's abit outdated as the Japan wave was overtaken by the Korean Wave because of all the 'Winter Sonato' and ???? (Sorry, I didn't really watch Korean Shows).

Taking Yoga classes is also not bad but I'm not sure whether I'm into it.

P.S: Where is my Fillet Burger and Fries!

%&^*(@(#))#

Just as we were about to leave the office happily, "[fill in the blanks]" starting ranting so loudly and with an air of authority. As I was listening, I was actually boiling inside and thinking about how the incident is repeated again. "[fill in the blanks]" must make sure that everyone in the office will share his sadness/pain before releasing us from our freedom.

"[fill in the blanks]" likes to welcome ITP students with criticisms of "Welcome to the real world!" and "people judge you by your work!" In fact, his ranting was harsher than the last time when we were still ITP students.

Although I'm not the one been ranted at but I can understand the feeling. We are all here to learn why must you make it so difficult for all of us. Dammit!

Anyway, it's over. As the chinese saying goes, "na de qi, fang de xia", we just have to forget the unhappy events and live with happy memories. Sometimes life is easier when we ignore certain things.

At least, boss is back and we feel more at ease rather than the fake boss who was showing off the ultimate 'perfect English' by scolding people.

Saturday

What did I do on Saturday? I almost forgot. I think I'm getting amnesia. lol. Yes I remember now. I've been sitting in front of my LCD Monitor watching Naruto which my sis borrowed from her friend. Really like it very much with all the fighting and ninja stuff. Actually most anime that I've watched always have one common point and that is they will always emphasize phrases like 'believing in yourself, you can do it' or 'if you work hard, you will achieve your goal'. I think it really reflects the beliefs of Japanese people who are very hardworking people.

After that, went cycling around the park. Quite bored because I kept turning round and round the same place but it's good that I sweat because I've not been exercising for quite some time.

Sunday

Went to the library to return some books with my sis. After that went Lot 1 to shop. Didn't know that ENERGY was having a performance but it's over when we reached there because alot of fans were lining up to get their albums autographed.

Today

Didn't know that our boss will not be coming today anyway there's one word that we can use when the boss is not around. SLACK!!!!.lol

OK. I don't mean to slack but I've finished my task and wanted the boss to review it but he's not in so I can only slack. So I've been reading my Final Theory Book. Don't like reading it because it's kind of boring with all the rules and dos and don'ts. I wonder why I still need to know about all the clutch stuff since I'm not going to learn driving manual cars. The clutching procedure is so troublesome. Haiz.

I'll end here, back to reading my Final Theory Book. Weeps :(

Somehow finished the Filemaker Database and I will be giving Moi the database to test out to make sure that there are no errors. Edited the Enquiry form and finish sending email that me and hc were asked to do. I realised that boss was getting very paranoid about copyrights since that letter came.

Thursday, June 09, 2005

Imagine me sitting at my own desk reading this eXtremely thick filemaker book, with my ears popped with some Ayumi rock songs and at the same time my eyelids half-closed and may sub-consciously fall asleep. This is what happen after I came back from lunch. Most probably the reason is because I went to bed at 12pm. Only hot drinks can really wake me up. In fact I shocked myself by accidentally clicking on the volume bar which blast my ears that I became fully awake.lol.

As I was writing this entry, I got myself chocked as I was drinking my warm water. Now I'm 100% awake and can clearly see that there's one more hour before we stop work. Heard from jane that sharon accepted a job offer recommended by her LO. Heard that the boss is very demanding and will not allow mistakes. And the boss particularly picks only the 'merit' students to work in his company.

Boring Life

Seems like everybody is having a happy life except me. No activities for me after work, no friends to ask me out during weekends (not that I didn't ask but always not free). It's not the same anymore since we graduated. I think another reason is also because, all of them are looking for their 'xing fu' or already found their 'xing fu'. And in order to sustain their 'xing fu', they will prefer to go out with their 'ai ren' rather than their good 'ole' friends because you don't need to pay for your food, you don't need to pay for your shoppping. Let me explain furthur:

FRIEND (STILL LOOKING FOR XING FU) ---------------------> No 1 Spot: YOU!

FRIEND (FOUND XING FU) ---------------------------------> No 1 Spot: BF
No 2 Spot: YOU! (Oh no!)

Note: Before you continue reading any furthur, let me address that I'm not trying to point at anyone with my analysis. It was just my side of view.

This real-life example will make the above evidence more concrete:
Venue: Clementi Hawker Centre
People: Me, Phoebe, Phoebe's bf, Huchian, Meiling

Huichian was listening very seriously on the phone. After she hunged up, we asked her what was the matter. She told us one of her friends was seriously heart-broken when her friend lied to her. Both PB and Moi agreed that it's really not a big blow to them if their friends lied to them. To furthur conclude, PB said that if it was her bf who lied to her, she will then be heart-broken. Huichian fought back by saying that because her friend treasure this friendship.

-----------------------------------End of Case---------------------------------------

From the above case, I feel that friends have become just a necessity rather than a need. I'm not here to criticize anyone or hurt anyone but I just want to write out what I feel about how people think and analyse things around them. I think maybe this is how the world is like and how humans behave, we cannot blame anyone.

Grrr..........

Stupid Filemaker. I have been playing around with the scripting for quite sometime but still can't find a solution to solve the errors especially when I'm supposed to create a script to import files but at the same time check that there are no duplicate records and check to make sure that the unique ID exists in the database before importing.

Try and try and try, I don't think it's possible since the scripts are really very not flexible like Java. Search for some resources but not useful and very little could be found. What should I do?

2 ITP students came and we were supposed to be their 'supervisors'. I don't really know how to actually guide them in fact Hc is more able to guide them.lol.

Sianz

Today was a tired day for me. Not really very energized
even after eating my breakfast of coffee biscuits and chrysanthemun tea.
Went to the office and was lectured about infringement and copyright acts.
After work still need to go eat Porridge at Clementi. Think will just eat the porridge
then go meet my sister to buy some stuff and go home because even if Moi,
HC and PB wanted to play pool after that I don't think I have the mood
because Hc should know. Sorry. You all go enjoy bah.

Was visiting a forum and came about the title 'Spider Milkshake'. It was gross man.
http://www.solid07.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=113700
I cannot believe that anyone would want to drink it. The person who took the picture
and start the mixing must be out of his mind.

Shocking Day

Cannot believe that K wanted to quit. He was the only employee who stayed the longest in this company. I think it's also expected because he had already hinted Moi a few times about quitting. His letter of resignation mentioned alot about the company's past. Felt abit affected by the news. What will become the future of this company? No one knows. The chinese always says 'zou yi bu kan yi bu'. Haiz.

It's only the 3rd week since I start work and someone is already quitting. I wonder how long can I hold on in this company. People come and go. The earth is turning and time never wait for anyone. What will become of us? Is there any future for us?

I realise that the year of chicken was very not lucky for most of us. So many unhappy things happened in just half a year and we still have another half year before the year of dog. Hope that the year of dog will be a great year for all of us.

Sianz. Tired. Cold. Hungry. The office seems like a jail to me. Staying from 9 to 6 before you get your freedom....................................
